The Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) is a non-profit educational organization, sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters of P. R. China, co-established by the U of S and its flagship partner Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). The CI was established on June 18, 2012. Now the CI offers various non-credit Chinese language and culture courses to students of the U of S, students of the surrounding schools and local citizens, including Chinese level 1, Chinese level 2, Chinese level 3, Chinese level 4, Chinese level 5, Chinese level 6, Business Chinese, Taichi, Chinese Dance, Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, mask painting, and so on.
The CI at the U of S serves the university and the local community in four important capacities: as a classroom, a window, a platform, and a bridge.

As a Bridge
The CI facilitates cross–cultural exchange and understanding and promotes friendship between Canada and China. The CI is an important bridge linking the people of our two great countries.

As a Platform
The CI promotes academic exchange and educational cooperation between the U of S and BIT and between Canadian and Chinese scholars through seminars, public lectures, faculty exchanges, conferences, and joint research projects.

As a Window
The CI exposes people to different aspects of Chinese society and culture, such as Chinese history, music and performing arts, painting, and martial arts. The CI works with local Chinese communities to engage and promote intercultural activities through cultural displays and cultural events.

As a Classroom
The CI offers non-credit Chinese language and cultural courses for the U of S students, public schools, and general public.
